2nd Annual Regional Schools Investment Competition Intends to Enlighten Students about Investing and Wealth Creation

Students from across the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union have the chance to learn first-hand about investing and win prizes as part of the 2nd Annual Regional Schools Investment Competition. 

Speaking on ECCB Connects, Business Development Executive at the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange Ltd (ECSE), Youlouca Armony-Browne says the competition is “a practical and dynamic learning opportunity for young people, our future investors.” Among the objectives of the initiative, is the goal to motivate young people to learn about investing as an avenue for wealth creation.

The contest, which is open to high school students in 3rd to 5th form and first year 6th form students, introduces students to investing via the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange. According to Armony-Browne, participating teams will have to manage an investment portfolio of notional company shares valued at $50,000.00. 

The competition includes an intra-country phase to select a country winner. The winning teams from each country will then compete at the regional level for the top place. Prizes include a monetary award of EC$5,000.00 for the winning school and cash prizes for the members of the winning team. The contest will run from May to November 2024.
