GRD 2025 Power Up Solar Energy Challenge: 9th Annual Growth and Resilience Dialogue 2025
The Solar Energy Challenge, dubbed “Power Up” seeks to inspire and engage students enrolled in mechanics and engineering programs at technical colleges as well as entrepreneurs operating in the automobile industry and the solar energy sector by challenging them to convert various types of conventional vehicles into solar-powered electric mobility solutions. This project aims to showcase the versatility of solar energy in powering different modes of transportation, including but not limited to bicycles and motorcycles. It promotes renewable energy adoption, provides hands-on experience, and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration among ECCU/OECS students and entrepreneurs. Objectives: 1. Promote Renewable Energy: Encourage the adoption and development of solar energy technologies. 2. Hands-On Learning: Provide a challenge that will encourage and spotlight skill sets in mechanics, electrical engineering, and renewable energy systems. 3. Innovation and Creativity: Encourage innovative solutions for integrating solar power into vehicle design. 4. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Foster teamwork among challenge participants from various technical disciplines. 5. Public Demonstration: Showcase the feasibility and performance of various solarpowered vehicles. Applicants comprising teams (herein referred to as Entrant) of 4–10 persons must submit a two-page proposal indicating their plan for participating in The Challenge.
