A Change in Habit
The metre readers are on time for the readings,
Teacher reminds us of school fees every morning,
On the village sidewalks the vendors are waiting,
Just to take some more from my scarce savings.

Maybe, a change in habit can do the trick.

Though torn out pages lie everywhere I look,
I’ll ensure I use every line in my book,
Why should I eat my eraser? That is not food,
When there are fresh fruits, no matter what the mood.

Perhaps a change in habit will do the trick.

With just one bulb, I’ll read how pigs huff and puff
Enjoy a good scrub with the bathroom tap off,
And when my eyes bulge at the sweet stuff,
I’ll say enough is enough! I will not be bluff.

Let’s see if the change in habit did the trick.

The few gallons saved reduced the water bill,
The cash spent on electricity keep going down hill,
My visits to the credit union are frequent and real,
More money means I can improve my meals.
Yes a change in habit has done the trick.

Spending Money Wisely
Spending money wisely is a special thing to do
It always makes me happy if I save a buck or two

Buying things you do not need will certainly make you broke
So work out how you’ll spend your money, this is not a joke

We all like to have nice things and nothing is wrong with that
But if you don’t plan for it, you’ll run your bankbook flat

When you have an emergency, no money there will be
If you are a careless spender who likes to waste money

So do the smart thing today and set out your budget
Spend your money wisely and a happier life you’ll get.

Spending Wisely
Only a dollar, what to do?
Shall I buy the car or mend the shoe?
The car I’ll have fun with, the shoe is for school,
Having that remote control car, my friends will all think I’m cool.

But if I don’t fix the shoe, I won’t get to learn,
And education is something I yearn.
My shoe I’ll mend with this money,
And that will be spending wisely.
