SCHOOLS POETRY COMPETITION 2003/2004

In 2003, the theme, “Building Strong Economies in the ECCU Depends On You And Me” called attention to the need for individuals, firms and governments to participate in ensuring a stable financial and economic environment. It challenged all citizens to improve their own quality of life as well as that of their communities through entrepreneurship, business and financial development, consumer education, fiscal discipline, and full involvement in civil society.

The region’s school children were a prime focus during this Month, with the introduction of the Schools’ Entrepreneurial Contest and the Financial and Economic Poetry Contest.

The ECCB presents this compilation of award winning poems and executive summaries of award winning business plans submitted by schools as part of the activities commemorating Financial Literacy Month, October 2003.

Such initiatives continue to advance the incorporation of financial and economic issues into the ECCU schools programme.
