The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) in collaboration with the Visa School of Public Policy will host an Electronic Payments Conference and Workshop on 17 October at the

St Kitts Marriott Resort, St Kitts and Nevis.

The Governor of the ECCB, Timothy N. J. Antoine, will deliver opening remarks and Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr The Honourable Timothy Harris, will deliver the featured address at the opening ceremony.

The workshop is offered to management and decisions makers from the Ministries of Finance, Tourism, Information Technology and the Financial Services Regulatory Commissions in the ECCU, whose roles are critical to the successful implementation and management of effective payments systems in their respective countries.

Topics to be covered during the workshop include:

Driving the Economy with Electronic Payments;

Improving Adoption of Electronic Payments in the Eastern Caribbean countries;

Innovation and Future of Payments;

The Value of Visa Direct; and

Regulatory Challenges: E-money Regulation and Anti-money Laundering (AML).

At the conclusion of the conference and workshop, the participants are expected to: understand the components of an electronic payment system; recognise the importance of enabling policies which will result in payment growth; and be aware of the implications of innovation on payments, financial services and the retail industry.
