The Caribbean Corporate Governance Forum (CCGF)

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) and the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange Ltd (ECSE) will host the second Caribbean Corporate Governance Forum (CCGF) at the ECCB’s Headquarters over the period 8 to 9 March 2005. The Forum will be held under the theme: “Principles of Good Corporate Governance: Forging a Caribbean consensus on Corporate Governance.

At the first Forum held during the period 3-5 September 2003, stakeholders from the public and private sectors within the Caribbean discussed and explored ways for advancing corporate governance within our markets. Participants were sensitised to the wider global policy dialogue on corporate governance, the importance of corporate governance for Caribbean countries and the need to establish a Caribbean wide position.

The second meeting is expected to be an intensive and interactive working session, focusing on the implementation of corporate governance reform. Participants will exchange views on:

Regional and international developments in corporate governance;
The activities of the Caribbean Technical Working Group (the steering committee for corporate governance in the Region) in charting a course for the Caribbean region under the auspices of the CCGF;
The Proposed Caribbean Corporate Governance Principles formulated for region-wide adoption; and
The development of sector specific codes.

Dr the Honourable Kenny Anthony, Prime Minister of St Lucia and CARICOM Head of Government with lead responsibility for Justice and Governance is slated to deliver the feature address. Individual sessions will be facilitated by both regional and international experts on corporate governance.
